Here we go again!
After 2 1/2 years of barging around in my old V8 7 series, the water pump ate itself and the water escaped, prompting a rescue by the RAC, a weekend trying in vain to remove the old pump, and a deal done with an Iraqi gentleman to take it away for parts. Sad times, but life goes on (although not for the seven).
I'd always wanted a T5 ever since my neighbour - a police person - had one sitting in his drive. I loved the fact that they were the size of a house, yet could blow most cars of the era into the weeds.
So when a chap at work was selling his, it was perfect timing to start another barge project!
Needs a bit of tidying up, but he put it through a fresh MOT (no advisories) as it had been off the road for 6 months. All good, no rust, a few minor scrapes but nothing you wouldn't expect to see on a 16 yr old car. Still seems to have most of it's 226 horses too, full service history as well!
Just need to clean/polish/tidy up and show her a bit of love now!
Oh, and sticker her up in the usual approved PH fashion!

Had a go at respraying the rear bumper as it's all faded and looks tat. Seems to look good in matt black! Just got to do the front now!
So far I've ordered new plugs, air filter (K&N panel), oil filter (and oil obviously), new wipers all round, new centre caps and a few PH stickers!
Next on the list is a genuine strut brace - a bargain I think at about £65! What's this about the brakes? As this had been standing outside for a few months, the brakes are a little...er...reluctant! Caused a few clenched moments on the way to work!
But managed to get wheelspin in 2nd today...it was wet (still not used to the turbo...)
Tempted with a RICA remap, but will get the timing belt done before that...just in case...

With the brakes you can add the carriers from the V70s which allows you to fit the 302mm front discs which make a good difference.
Only slight issue is that they don't fit behind the original wheels, but they do fit behind the later "Perfo" wheels.
They sound good when the exhaust is liberated too - here's mine:

In the past, I've used Long-life in Basingstoke - did a good job on my BMW, very reasonable as well. The system on mine is fine, has a nice burble and sounds good under load.
Funny thing though, not really pushed it much yet (going to treat it to a full service soon), but when I accelerate hard, the washer fluid light comes on briefly! Is this normal? Maybe the fluid sloshing around and triggering the sensor...
Hmm...I'll start with the strut brace, and removing the tow-bar! And pushing the ding in the bootlid out...and...
