Afernoon folks,

I need to insure my track car for 6 weeks or so, any recommendations for brokers who specialise in this kind of thing?

Think your option may be to just get a normal insurance policy with mega-limited miles then cancel it after the 6 weeks.

Incidentally, if the car is taxed then you MUST have insurance. So it would be tax and insure on day 1, use car for 6 weeks then declare SORN and get some of your tax back.

Ok thanks, so next question, who does the most competitive limited mileage policies?

I've just done this with my trackday MX5 - my insurance company for my daily driver (Bell/Admiral) lets me add it on for something like £15 a week which is what I've done in the past, but have just decided to insure it full time to avoid the stress of SORN etc!

Thanks, that's very helpful, will see if they offer the same.

I keep my Golf insured all the time. I decided the risk of leaving it laid up in a garage and to come back and find it stolen or burnt out were too high. Plus it means I get to try out modifications and tweaks on the road before comitting to costly track time.

I've added a highly-modified car onto a family car insurance policy (Direct Line). They can add an extra car for up to 90 days.

For the SORN issue, get laid-up insurance.

Thanks, will speak to my current insurer (Adrian Flux) and see if they will add it for a shorter period.
