What is the sound quality like from a 997 with the 'sound pack'? Is it OK or do I need to hold out for Bose?

I had a 996 with the standard factory set up and it was pretty dire, then a 996 with Bose which was quite good.

I'm not looking for an amazing system, but something that sounds good when driving (ie with road noise) and some reasonable bass.

I had sound package plus in the GTS and thought it was fine. Not amazing, but not dire either. Plenty loud enough to cover road noise and never felt like I had to change it (which I did feel with the std sound system in our Mini JCW (utterly hopeless system).

So personally, I wouldn't pay out for Bose but it's a very personal thing and I'd completely understand anybody who felt an upgrade was an absolute necessity.

I've got the sound pack in my GT3 and whilst it doesn't generate the sheer volume or depth of bass that the Bose system did in my 997 C2S (due to a smaller amplifier and no subwoofer on the rear parcel shelf) - it's not bad!

In fact all 997's generate so much road noise from the rear tyres, that you won't appreciate the stereo as much as you might in an Exec Saloon, so it's not so critical. I'll bet you could get some pretty spectaculuar results by adding a large aftermarket amp and some replacement speakers though. smile

gen2 BOSE is not bad

in a gen1 its bloody awful, and I'd rather not have it
