New car - what to use?
Discussion
Hi guys,
Just had my Estoril blue 3 series delivered, looks great :-) However, all my gear was bought for my black A4 so want to work out what I should be doing now. Paint looks good with no swirls that I can see.
My routine at the moment is that I snow foam the car with Megs Hyperwash, then wash with Duragloss 901 (though I'm nearly out of that). On my black A4 I then used Poorboys Black Hole, and then Finish Kare 1000 to finish. I also use Poorboys wheel sealant on the rims. So, questions are:
What is the right thing to do to a car that is brand new? Do I have to wait? Strip it (want to avoid this if I can!)? It was polished by BMW but I've no idea with what.
What do I replace black hole with?
And what shampoo would you guys recommend now - I love Duragloss but it seems really hard to get these days?

Sounds like there is no need to start polishing it just yet if the paint is brand new (lovely colour choice by the way!!) You just want to get a good quality sealant on, I would reccomend something from the G Techniq range, I have used it on my car and it works very well as a sealant, pick up one of the microfibre cloths they supply as well, quite cheap and very good! G Techniq is not the cheapest option around but its an honest product that does work well.
When I got my new car I clayed it to remove the shipping wax, then used a non abrasive paint cleaner (R222) and waxed it.
I wouldn't be too keen on putting a sealant over an unknown base, so as time consuming as it is stripping it would be my advice. With regards to products I'd use an cleanser that goes with the LSP you want to use and most also have a shampoo that will have been tested with the LSP too, although my understanding was that you can use hyperwash as shampoo, so could be worth investigating if you already have some.
