sorry if this is a question already answered on here.....

wanting to by a 4.5 - or perhaps a good 4.2? - bit scared about things which tend to destroy the engine if you know what i mean

do the cam chains give any bother?

if so what mileage? and cost.

oh and a failure result in all valves bent (if so what sort of cost?)

In general no. I've heard of one or two breaking, but it's hardly a well known weak point.

Cam chains, solid, thats why they got two cam chains per cam!

Timing chain - I've been unlucky in that department, mine just ripped right off = engine trashed! Apparently the've never had an engine back with this problem, well at that time, god knows since then.

Like Danny says, very RARE!

I'm always interested in ways of making the engine stronger, I'll be looking into stronger chains, would be nice if the chain links were forged.... hmmmm......
