Car Hire - Italy.

Looking to spend a week in Italy as part of our world trip.
I haven't hired a car in Europe for about 5 years so a bit rusty on companies/options.
Looking to pick up probably in Venice and drive around a few places for a week.
We'd like to see Naples, but have read horror stories about driving/leaving a car unattended in the city.
I've checked a few suspects I can remember - CarHire3000, HolidayAutos etc.
Does anyone have any recommendations?
