Help us choose a wedding photographer
Discussion
We got engaged a couple of weeks ago and we're now starting to get things organised for a 2014 wedding in Scotland.
I'm a photographer myself so that's my top priority (she's interested in dresses, bridesmaids, blah blah blah... But without a photographer that stuff doesn't matter
)
There's a bit of a problem though - I'm really picky when it comes to photography.
I love this guy's style: Aleksandras Babicius
I've admired his work for years and his style of photography is almost exactly what I wish I could do myself.
So I'm looking for someone a bit more local whose style is similar to that. There are loads of photographers with professional online portfolios, but I find too many flaws with their work to consider them seriously.
At the moment the two options I've found that stand out to me are either Claremont Photography or Simpo Two from this forum... Although I haven't approached either yet so I don't know if they would travel up here and how much they'd charge.
Before I start asking for availability and prices... Are there any other recommendations with a similar kind of style to Aleksandras?

Strong recommendation for Simpo Two - John was a delight to chat with ahead of the day, accommodating to our wants and needs, did a great job on the day ... and ultimately gave us exactly what we wanted - great shots and the digital images for us to muck about with however we fancied. Quick turnaround too. If Kirsty Allsopp every becomes available and I can bump the current wife without too much fuss I'd hire him again without reservation.
I would strongly recommend Robin Bradshaw (Bullit Photography).
He was our photographer and I couldn’t recommend him enough.
I know he's not local but he does Travel and we received many compliments about our photos.

The one bit of advise I would give is to not scrimp on the photographer as the photo's are the one thing you look back on time and time again and for the sake of a few 100 quid its just not worth it.

I can highly recommend this chap. He's new to the field but with a great eye and very discreet which a lot of people forget at weddings with photographers. I just came back from an insanely expensive wedding at the Hofburg in Salzburg and almost every guest I spoke to complained about the photographers getting in the way. They were simply a pain in the arse.
I can tell you this guy is nothing like that....really very good.

He has a website too:

If you have a bigger budget, this was the person I used. Based in Vienna but will travel anywhere (at a cost) and considered one of the best wedding photographers around today, winning numerous awards in her time. Really spectacular.

Top two! Anything is possible so if you'd like to drop me line saying where the wedding location/s are, date and how much of the day you'd like covered (normal is Preparations/Ceremony/Reception/Evening to first dance), we can see if it works or not. Free natter at Bloke HQ if it helps.
(Thanks Matt for the kind words; haven't photographed any celebrities yet but see what you can do
)Got married in Glasgow back in June and we used Mark at http://www.archibaldphotography.co.uk.
Can't recommend him highly enough, he was great.
He also did an engagement shoot for us (not my idea!) and got some stunning shots. Loads of examples (including ours) on his Blog.

Thanks for the suggestions
.
I'm still looking and trying to get a shortlist to ask for quotes.
Archibald Photography looks good. Not quite the style I wanted, but he seems to capture lots of good moments very professionally so he's definitely worth an email. Although he really needs to tone down the JPEG compression on his website images!!

I'd suggest you take a look at Mike Garrard: www.mikegarrard.co.uk
I think he's very similar in style to what your looking for. He mentored me while I was learning the ropes of wedding photography, his work is quite exceptional and he's a really nice guy too.
