Retro Fitting Air Conditioning

Can this be done easily.??

If so, has anyone had it done - is it any good, and how much is it likely to cost me.

This question has been raised a couple of times in as many weeks, do a search in the Chim forum.

The general concensus is yes but at a cost, approx £2000 IIRC.

Is the £2k cost for Full TVR spec AC. What if you go
to an independent fitter. I'm sure they could
cobble something together for less than that, even if
they have to custome build some of the bits.

The full TVR spec is around the £3500 mark. Getting an independent to cobble something together would be interesting as most of the front interior of the car would need to be disassembled and put back. Not trivial especially as they wouldn't know how to do that necessarily. Many of the parts would need to be TVR specific as well. BTW the car will not be increased in value by that amount although it will probably be easier to sell.

If you want air con, get a car with it is the best and easiest advice although if you have already got one, not much help.

I have aircon, that leaks and needs regassing every year

Don't use it much as I usually drive it when it is nice weather and have the top down anyway.
