Mini GP brakes set up - Qs
Discussion
Just wondering if anyone can enlighten me on the different set ups. Firstly what was the OEM set up and were they all the same - 4 pot/6 pot/single pot???. What is the OEM disc size? Are they any good or have people upgraded and to APs, Stoptech, Brembo et cetera? Some GPs seem to have the red calipers (was red an optional extra or are they different brakes) whilst others do not. Do they have braided lines as standard ( - I am guessing not knowing BMW)
Lastly are John Cooper Works brakes different from the GP brakes.
Any tip top tips appreciated.

Stock is 294mm single pot front, slotted/drilled oem disc's are available but not very common. Lastly are John Cooper Works brakes different from the GP brakes?
258mm on the back single pot. All OEM stuf is Brembo.
GP and Works brake kit use the same brakes, they both have red calipers and do not have braided lines.
Most people that acutally use the 218 horses are not happy with them. They lack bite giving u little confidence. Braided lines and better pads (carbotech, mintex, ferodo, tarox lots of choice) are considered as musthaves.
Since the R56 JCW came out a lot of people retrofit (easy, just new lines) these 316mm 4 pot (also Brembo) which are pretty good. AP, Stoptech and Brembo Junior kits are also used a lot.
As i said, big community lots of parts out there.
