Rubbish OEM wheel swaps

Can't help but feel that the Rx8 wheels are a wee bit too big on the Mx5;



Has anyone else seen any other rubbish wheel "upgrades"?

People who put M Sport wheels on an SE 3 series, failing to take into account the suspension differences. The SE looks stupid, and rides way too high.

That MX5 would look a lot better if it was lowered. Isn't that always the case with bigger wheels?

E36 with 18" E46 Sport wheels also seems to be popular, hidious

My MX5 had similar wheels when I bought it. They looked rubbish, ruined the handling, and made the ride intolerable. Great way to spend a few hundred!

God this. M-sport wheels on SEs as well, always clashes and never sits right. Same with AMG wheels on normal mercs.

One thing I love though is E34 Turbines or Throwing Stars on an E36. Heavenly. Anything above 17" is too big for the E36 IMO.

E36s on replica E46 M3 alloys.
E36s on MV1s and MV2s. Just don't suit imo.

I've seen a few E34s on E39 'turbine' (Type 33) alloys. Do. Not. Suit.

Sorry, but horrible IMHO. Too big, and I bet the ride is horrendous.

I'll go out on a limb and say any BMW with wheels from the newer version - e36 with e46 wheels, e34s with e39 wheels, etc.

Forgot about those, I meant the E34 M5 turbine wheels; always called them turbines but they might have a different name.




ETA: Called M-System II's; the "turbine" thing is a cover on top of a black 5-spoke alloy. And they don't look as good as I thought they did; look fantastic on an E30 though. E36 on throwing stars is heaven as well.

I've noticed a few SEs with MV1s/MV2s and think they look fine. Nice upgrade actually.
