New PH'er - 2007 Alfa Spider
Discussion
Hi everyone,
I’m new to PH (although I have been leeching for quite some time) but recently joined because 6 days ago I finally acquired a car that I think is worthy to introduce to you all! It’s a manual 2007 new model Alfa Spider, 2.2 JTS engine with just 27,000 miles on the clock. So far it’s been an absolute pleasure to drive, once you get used to a slightly awkward driving position at least. The engine runs beautifully, sounds lovely and throaty on the low revs. It’s not the fastest Alfa by any means, but it’s got enough pull for me
I considered one of the 3.2 versions, but I was shocked at how low the MPG was! I’m just about making 28mpg in my one (which I think is bad enough as it is) and apparently the 3.2 sits at the very low 20's on a good day. I’m using it as an everyday car, so thought it necessary to opt for the smaller one. Plus, being 22 years old and all, the insurance would have been sky-high I’m sure. Oh, and I really didn’t fancy a diesel (apologies to any diesel lovers)!
I warmed to it on Sunday when I took it down to the Goodwood soft-top Sunday show, got a spot on the track to show it off and surprisingly got a lot of interest! I think perhaps because it’s a little less common than the Z4 and Boxster? Ended up driving home in convoy with a lovely bunch of lads from the Alfa owners club who took me round some windy cross country roads, all the way back to London. What a great way to spend a first weekend with a new car, right?
Essentially I’ve gone and implemented a dream that I’ve had since I was 15. And God, does it feel good to have finally just gone and done it!
Hit me up with any questions / criticism / slander that you have. I can take it all!

Very, very nice, love the colour and wheels are unusual too. Good to see you've embraced AROC, worth checking out AO too if you haven't already.
Lovely S2 Spider, IIRC Robbie Coltrane had one in that colour, that image of him in one of those always amused me.
Glad you guys like it! It's been a pleasure so far, but nothing has gone wrong with it yet... I'm guessing that as soon as I have any issues, things are gonna get expensive! Very much looking forward to introducing it to the yearly trip down to Le Mans next June too... Should be a nice little motorway cruiser Lovely S2 Spider, IIRC Robbie Coltrane had one in that colour, that image of him in one of those always amused me.
