Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a Toyota Rav 4 1996 that has been jump started by a bin lorry 24 volts and I fear an electrical component has been damaged because of this.
We have changed the engine ECU and both the ignition coil packs but the fault is still there.
The symptoms are the car will start and run from cold as normal but as soon as it heats up it starts to falter at about 3000rpm as it comes up to full heat it falters at about 2000rpm. The faltering feels like a crude rev limiter it will just not go past 2000rpm when fully hot.
This car does not have a diagnostic plug so I am clutching at straws as to what may be causeing this?

It does have a diagnostic plug but iirc it's the older big plug for which you will need the older machine to read

I've experienced a similar problem but on a Saab, which was caused by faulty crankshaft sensor. Main symptom though was slightly different, unable to start when hot. Could be worth a shot.
