Hi,
I've been out of the game for a few years now, but distinctly remember a lot of hauliers went through a phase of putting super singles on the front axle of the unit. Not sure if this achieved anything, as I never experienced driving a unit with them on, but does anyone recall the reason why?.

Also, during my time I recall having directional michelins fitted to the FL10 I had for a while, not sure if they ever caught on but from what I remember they were an excellent tyre and improved the ride of the unit an awful lot,as well as reducing road noise and offering better grip in the wet. Some of the 112's we had were also fitted and the drivers reported less low speed torque steer when manoeuvring (when you wanted to turn at low speed in the scanny but the bloody thing insisted on going straight regardless where the wheels pointed).

Super singles on the front last a hell of a lot longer than standerd tyres, on FH's theres no difference but on XF's I've found it does make the steering heavier.

As far as Im aware the only reason to fit super single steers is to up the axle weight/s.

We have a few motors at work with them on, it literally turned a nice R series top line into a pig, absolutely awful to drive now, its got heavier steering, tramlines for fun, just not as pleasant as it is on normail 295/315s

There was talk of fitting some to my unit, however after driving the above i made it plain that it was to be no more than talk.

One of the CF 4x2s has them too and it seems to be less affected by the heavier steering than the Scania with them fitted.
