Does wax have a use-by life?

I put a layer of AG HD wax on the missus' GTI yesterday and found it a little tough going. I didn't spread well and it was hard to remove leaving some cloudy parts unless I really buffed it off. Not as oily as I remember it being either. I've had this pot for about 4 years now so has it reached a natural end?

It may have dried out a bit by know.

I've got a pot or R222 (actually P21S, as it was before the rebrand) from 7 years ago, it has dried out a bit, but still works well.

I had some AG wax and was so dried up, it was hard bits rattling in the pot.......
