...so that's the runners and riders taken care of but, whoever gets chosen will either be a Party Puppet or a former one. We need a truly independent representative to put the community first, the Police second and worry about the Councils without interference from a Party with a selfish or self-important agenda.

What do you guys think?

I thought why bother until the worthy ex chief of the Met, now Lord Blair, came out today and said people shouldn't vote, for no good reason that I could see.

Not sure I would vote for any of the candidates listed.

As you say, most have political ties with the ex County council Leader voicing his disapprovement of Government cuts and pushing the 'improvements made under the Labour Government'....so he isn't politically driven then...

Unfortunately, the picture of Matthew Smith that accompanies his 'i-Story' looks more like a photograph found in the Comedy Club reviews. I thought the picture was from the Inbetweeners.


With a salary of between £65 - 100k its a job but ultimately, the PCC has only got control of the Policing responsibility and budgeting. There is no cross control with other emergency services nor the Prison services.
So working to control the constant re-offenders, any kind of preventative training for ex offenders etc will not be under their remit. This is a major issue which affects the crime levels.

Working to use cost savings with Fire and Ambulance services will be beyond their responsibility.

I hope the position works and savings can be made but they can and should only be backroom savings that do not stop the bobby on the beat doing his/her job or reducing their numbers.

Not sure who I will vote for but out of the ones putting themselves forward, can't pick one.

Think it is/was 19 days prior to voting day....You'd get my vote..

I'm going to protest by not voting. This will be the first time in the 20 years that I have been eligable to vote that i heven't voted.

I can't find where or how to put my name forward. I think the fact I am truly independent of any political party means I could pull it off.

Also I have no idea what the role is, what my powers would be and have no agenda going into it so I will be open to suggestions and idea from the public, and Police Service. I'd be doing what's best for my county instead of what's dictated to me by London.

I'd also be open and honest about bribes

I find it odd that we get a vote we don't want and didn't ask for, but not one on the EU, which is far more important...

This major change deserved to be voted for or against, I cannot recall such a vote. I will not be casting my vote as a protest, first time I have ever not cast a political vote.

Well, I've voted. Or rather I scrawled 'No politics in policing' across the ballot paper. As there had been no other voters I also witnessed the sealing of the ballot box.

So early exit polls indicate that the Spoilt Ballot Papers have it!

I was at work and there was no by proxy alternative available. Neither of my parents voted as it was in their opinion "pointless".

I've been busy all day so was hoping to vote on way home.....thats knackered that then.....
