Hi Guys

thought you might be interested in a few pics of my Chevy engine.

Started life as a 350 TPi in Overfinch Discovery - I bought it with the injection removed and a knackered old Holley 500 sitting on top together with a cracked cylinder head where some muppet had tried to re-tap the alternator mounting bolt and gone straight into the water jacket. Only saving grace was the Edelbrock Performer inlet manifold.

I rebuilt the top end with new Edelbrock Aluminium heads, performer cam, roller rockers etc, but this then exposed a rattle in the bottom ends(shells) so I decided to go the whole hog and stoke the whole thing.

Fortunately it is a 4-bolt main with single seal and the block itself was lovely.

Block back from machine shop with .030 overbore

pistons all laid out

Eagle stroker crank meant some minor block grinding for clearance

Assembly with double chain

Pistons all looking nice

Heads go on

Final assenbly back into vehicle

The engine has so much torque that it has chewed the gearbox - currently having Ashcoft stage 2 fitted with huge torque convertor.

Sorry about the tiny 10-inch air filter - a 14-inch will be going on when i have modified the bonnet.

Real steel did all the machining and supplied the parts

Paul at the V8 shop in Wickham did the build - both hightly recommended.

Very nice indeed. I think I would have given the block a coat of paint while it was out though. wink

Here's my 460 after being provisionally assembled.

Sobering I am sure

I did have the block fully inspected and pressure-tested - I suppose that's all we can do.

How many revs were you pulling when that exploded?

It went into a 67 Camaro, I'm ashamed to admit that other things had to take priority & it's never been started yet. frown It will be finished sometime over this coming winter hopefully. smile

As ever with these things they take time as well as money. And patience.

Love the early Camaros - My mate Paul had a 68 with a supercharged 383 - under 10 seconds at the Pod.

My engine - as shown in the pictures - is from an Overfinch Discovery and is ultimately destined for my wife's Defender.

I did consider restoring the Discovery but it has no service history or build documents from Overfinch so it has little value over and above it being a 1995 discovery with a chevy in it.

Although the Overfinch guys remember it(they only built 4 Discoverys) without the paperwork it has no provenance.

Shame really as it is a nice vehicle.
