Any thoughts on the latest reporting on the new Vanquish. The Sunday Telegraph made grim reading, Autocar was favourable. Evo as usual was very in-depth and positive, I like that magazine for it's integrity. Top Gear's November offering has also dropped into our letter box thankfully the Vanquish has eluded them. Plus there have been good reports from various sites on the internet. Hopefully AM have a winner.

I thought Evo's take on a replacement Vantage was basically what we have been discussing. Should they make it I am sure an orderly queue would quickly start to form.
Their thoughts on the future of Aston Martin and the company's financial health were a bit scary but made sense. The next few years should be very interesting for all concerned.

What's their take on the AM future viability Rob?

They concluded that a partner was needed. Dr Bez did not rule that out, though not at the expense of Aston Martin's integrity

I've read 6 or 7 reviews now and the telegraph was Luke warm rather than grim reading. Reading between the lines it was as much an attack on AM as the new car. That review aside, the others are represented by 3 glowing reports from both sides of the pond and the remainder are good positive reports that basically take the DBS to a better place but to not a revolutionary replacement. It seems the biggest disappointment is the same TT2 gearbox.

That said, with around 70% of the car differing from the DBS, that seems like a damn good justification for a replacement but it leaves room for another, perhaps an S in the not too distant future and a subsequent further upgrade. If that is the case, seems like good business sense if it works.

I'm driving it Friday so will have a more educated opinion following my 2 years+ of DBS ownership. Going from a much loved manual to the TT2 will be my biggest mental climb...
