As above, I know most bits of the forum have their own live in usuals.
I'm just thinking about the huge number of newbie posts, and as I was about to type up the same basic pointers again, why dont I write something a bit more generic... you could say I'm reasonably 'qualified' in that I used to sell people bikes as a job, aswell as obviously being a cyclist myself.

ds" post self moderate now? If it does, it restores my faith in the internets.No forum specific mod here as I'm not sure it's needed in all honesty. I frequent this forum a lot and it seems to roll along nicely with the regulars self-policing when needed.
We have forum mods on problem areas like Football and SP&L but most others are looked after by general mods when needed. PP doesn't really attract many problems as I see it (and reports are virtually non existent), but does anyone feel it needs one? I don't, but always happy to consider it if you guys feel we need one.

Re-reading your post, can you clarify exactly what you are asking Simon please? Do you mean guidelines or FAQ regarding cycling, in which case I would imagine it would be pretty lengthy and never ending.
If you mean posting guidelines, most people, where they may be new to this forum, will not necessarily be new to PH, so will probably be well aware of the posting rules.

I agree, I don't think the PP forum needs specific rules for newcomers. We have some fairly robust side-wide rules that cover most eventualities. Besides, most would still post what they wanted to anyway and would bypass the rules thread...at least, that's what happens everywhere else on PH
Sorry let me explain - I was just wondering during about putting together some buying advice, for the reasons above. I was checking about moderation as there's little point to in me doing good it if it will just get lost. If i/we put something good together, will we be able to sticky it, that's all!?
It's a kind offer Simon. The only thing is that the subject matter is so wide that you would never be able to cover all eventualities and, most people would post with their specific query anyway.
Feel free to put something together but be prepared that not everyone will agree with the advice, it wouldn't be PH if they did
