Had my door card off today to put new window runner felt in..

On inspection of the loom as I had it all off, it seems the wires into the back of the mirror control box have just disintegrated, seemingly more so in front of my eyes.

I also seem to have some extra cut wires in the loom and a random connector now unplugged and cut. I have been going through the wiring diagrams but struggling to make sense of the 'carnage'. Ultimately I was going to re-wire the door with waterproof connectors, but for now need to work out how to get my head round it!

Can I get the pins out of here? Or new plug time?

White connector with red and white wire now unplugged and cut. Spare black connector in the door to suit.

3 cut wires - Although I seem to still have the correct number of wires!

Also.. The drivers window never fitted quite right, and upon inspection was coming out of the rear runner. I have now got it seated and fitting much much better, but I am left with only being able to get 3 bolts back in, the 4th isn't even close.. Is it just a case of re-drilling the tab to suit, or am I missing a trick?

Tips/pointers much appreciated.. Going to go back through the wiring diagrams now!

If your cars like mine then the diagram will look
Nothing like what you've got
There should be a white wire in my door but its not there
And that's because tvr used what ever the had to hand
And not what they should have used
I was told that most cars had bits of wire in them that they found
On the floor
And the connectors in the door were 10 pence each
And it shows
Defo replace with the water proof ones
You glass holders are diffract to mine
Good luck

Can't help, the schematics of the door harness seems to have different colors compared to yours.

Cheers guys.. I thought as much.

Have to just go back to basics on it. Wiring diagram is close, but colours are different. No good when some wires have come adrift.

It's "only" the mirror control, so stuck the doorcard back on for now. Need to order some wiring bits I guess.

Any suggestions as to where to source one of the mirror module plugs and pins?

There were two types of door wiring and connectors, one for the early cars and then an update for the later ones.

The wiring diagrams on The Cerbera Site are your friends and it's a case of sitting down with a multimeter and just checking which ones go where.

I rewired both of my doors as the wiring was pretty shot, and have one apart at the moment if you need any references.

For the wire that is disconnected, unplug the other end of the harness where it meets the body, and you should be able to see what position it is at at the other end.

To pull the plugs, you need a crimp pin extractor - there's a cheapish one from Radio Shack that should do the job, then you can just buy new replacement pins to crimp on. I have all the kit if you need to borrow it smile

For the parts for the mirror, try the Cerbera Parts List on my website at:

I have all the wiring diagrams downloaded, and started to make sense of them. The link to the pin tool isn't working..

I think that will be my plan to rewire the door tbh. May even follow the proper wire colours to really confuse people.

I usually just use a needle or a tiny screwdriver to extract the wiring pins.

However, when I did this job I just cut off all the old connectors and used AMP Superseal waterproof connectors (like these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-WAY-1-5mm-SERIES-AMP-S... ). They aren't cheap, in fact I bought a box of various different connectors for £100, but I know they'll last a lot longer than the originals.

Ah yes.. Will be rewiring the other connectors with those AMP ones, however I need to reuse the mirror control box one..

Yes - looks fine from what I can see (*though can't promise without seeing it as there are some size differences).

I started with one of those and then bought a complete set just for use on this and other things - ebay 261095385429

Just to bump and old thread.. It has taken me a while to get round to this..

New pins for the Mirror control Terminal..

http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/crimp-blade-terminal...

Would these do the trick?

http://www.tvrshop.com/tvr-car-part-m0545-dim-and-...

These ones seem a bit rich at £1 each!

Good if they fit post the link on the alternative parts post, they are a lot cheaper than elsewhere. Surprising how easily you will use fifty up on the cerbera!
