Cutting Fiberglass in the Engine Bay

Recently I tried to remove the spark-plug from the S6 engine. Easy job but No.6 is hardly accessible. I couldn't remove the spark-plug connector in a "normal" way. Now I'm thinking of cutting out the fiberglass to get more "headroom". Am I the only one having this problem ? Can anyone tell me whats behind the red circle ? (Photo shows right hand side, just underneath wiper motor).

I think you'll find that on the other side is the cavity where the hot air is blown into the centre console. Inaccessible from the inside.
