Really looking forward to this, Wing Commander was probably the first game that I upgraded my PC for and there just aren't enough space combat games IMO.
Oh while we are waiting for this, if anyone wants to relive some Wing Commander nostalgia check out Wing Commander Saga, it's a fan based remake of the original Wind Commander with updated graphics etc. It's a little rough around the edges as it's obviously not a commercial product but the space combat is pretty awesome.

Last one was freelancer that I can remember...
It took me a while to 'get' the flying in Freelancer at the beginning, but awesome game once you put in a bit of practice.I always wound up editing the game files so that it had the same loadout as all the other civilian Starfliers in game...
I usually would up mining diamonds in Omega 11, provided you weren't hostile with Hessians and corsairs, and kept an eye on your healthbar it was an easy way to make money, getting open Single Player mods made that so much easier. Go in to the asteroid field, blast as many rocks as possible, than full power back to the station and relative safety... Then you get a freighter and haul your gains to New London (or was it Leeds? I forget now...)
I haven't been able to find a copy in several years...

Yeah, the starting Starflier is a bit carp, very overreactive piloting and rubbish weapons (even for a starting ship)

For the freelancer players, were you veterans of privateer or new to the series? I ask as whilst freelancer was enjoyable, it didnt quite capture the down and out eeking a living in a tough universe feel of privateer or righteous fire.I always wound up editing the game files so that it had the same loadout as all the other civilian Starfliers in game...
