It depends how far you're willing to travel. I find Hamiltons (http://www.hamiltonscarstorage.co.uk) to be the best and I've looked at them all. Graeme who is the proprietor is fastidious and is a pleasure to deal with. I have no reservations in recommending him. I don't believe they're the cheapest out there but don't forget that you can declare your vehicle off road to the insurance company and pay reduced premiums for the period that you're not driving your car. I don't think I would ever not have my car insured even when in storage. You can ask your insurers for a laid up cover which means you get a refund back on your on road policy if you pay up front for the years premium and then it's about £150 to have it insured for around a year in storage. Safe and sound knowing it's covered. If it's less than a year, say for the winter period only. Then you would be charged pro rata for the months you use.
The cover is reduced to fire, theft and damage only. There is no cover for the car to be on a public road and you would need to declare the car S.O.R.N. to comply with the insurers policy.

Insure it without road risk would be my advice and then you'll continue to build NCB as well. It's a nominal amount when you remove road risk but for the peace of mind, I'd prefer to close any loophole the insurance highwaymen may try and weasel through. Cheers

As per my recommendation above ( http://michaeladams.co ) they cover your car on their insurance for theft, fire etc, so in theory if car was SORN'd you could cancel your insurance.Cheers
I was very happy with service I recevied from Adam.
The post I was asking about was posted by the owner recommending his own company - but unfortunately posing as a third party totally unconnected with the firm. It's now gone. The website and storage facility actually looked very professional.

Looking for some advice on insurance:
Thinking about buying a Porsche and then sticking it in storage. Need to insurance it against fire, theft etc but I also want to use it once or twice a year for special occasions etc. Any advice as to who to go to for insurance and what sort I need?
