Not seen a topic on this already so I just thought I'd give PH'ers a heads up on a new free-to-play racing game called Auto Club Revolution for the PC.

Auto Club Revolution

Free-to-play means it's a similiar setup to World of Tanks, you sign up, launch the game from your browser, download the game and can start playing within minutes all for free. You can of course spend real money on buying new cars and car upgrades but if you're a cheapskate like me you don't have to spend a penny. You can play, earn experience points and buy new cars etc that way.

The game is in beta testing stage at this point so not all of the features are available but the graphics and physics models even at this stage are very good for a free play game, in fact I'd say they are on a par with a lot of paid commercial racing games available today. The game also supports a myriad of wheel setups and controller options so those with decent wheel setups can make use of them.

Once you've done a few tutorials to learn the ropes (and win a few extra cars) you can go straight online to race against other people. You don't even need to wait ages for the full game to download as it loads the first few cars and tracks so you can jump straight in and then it loads the rest of the game in the background.

This game really does look very promising and I'm having a lot of fun playing it at the moment.

Actually you don't need a Gamepad to play - you can use keyboard, gamepad or steering wheel.

It's well worth trying as it featured a lot of free cars and all the tracks are available for free (Silverstone, Infineon, Spa, etc).
