The only thing I am aware of with the bosch injection(known as THOR) and ECU in the disco 2 V8 is that there is a bit of a flat spot in the torque curve between 2500 and 3500 rpm. Mark Adams of Tornado systems can remap your ecu for you to eliminate this.
He also does various other things to it to make it more fuel efficient and you get about 10% more power with a standard exhaust and intake.
Unfortunately this does involve sending the ecu to him so your car will be off the road for a day or two.
His other tuning systems for Hotwire and Gems ecus involve physically replacing the chip a tornado but with the THOR he has to re-programme the ecu itself.
A mate of mine does a lot of towing in his disco 2 and the remap transformed his car so it is worth the inconvenience.
Of course - as with all later Rover V8's there is always the porous block/slipping liner issue which we all have to bear - that tends to be down to bad luck.
