New purchase: 1989 300 CE

Hello all
Looks like I've bought myself a project car - a 300 CE - hence introducing myself here and saying hello to you all.
The plan is for it to be an ongoing restoration. I bought it for a Guild of Motoring Writers event, held yesterday, which it stormed with real aplomb. Given how it cost £675 (off eBay - I know...), that's job one done in my book. But so well did it perform yesterday, I reckon it deserves more: it's proven itself and has earned the right to be given a stay of execution in this world.
Yes, it's tatty. But that's good too: my plan is to see how much better I can make it, with (very) minimal skills and budget. However it turns out, I'll be documenting the lot.
I've headed over to W124.co.uk for a good look-see, and have also signed up for Benzworld. Any other good info resources I should be looking at?
And also, any tips on good sources for parts?

Nice - the W124 CE is gorgeous. Rear screen cloudy? Rust on front wheel arches? Leaky head gasket? Would be a great buy if it has none of the above.

Sadly, by finding another one with head gasket problems or an MOT failure!Joining the Mercedes Benz club (thats this one: http://www.mercedes-benz-club.co.uk/public/home.ht... is a must.
Its the officially recognised club in the UK and the access you get to the online Parts Catalogue and Works Instruction System is worth the membership fee on its own.

You need to master the online catalogues of Bilstein and ZF (which includes Sachs, Lemforder and Boge) as these give you accurate part numbers for high quality replacement parts. Also sites such as wanapart.co.uk, seekparts24.co.uk and onlinecarparts (or something) can be very useful. The cheapest is your local motor factor but it is a bit of a pain having to go and get the bits. MB dealers will massively discount if you build up a relationship with them. With your chassis number you can access the Mercedes Electronic Parts Catalogue here http://www.auto-parts.spb.ru/cat/cats/m.mycat?cat=... and then get accurate prices here www.mercedes-benz-parts.co.uk. There is also good old Ebay. Try also starpartz.co.uk and Euro Merc Mercedes Parts for a wide range of NOS parts.
