Who sat in? (Tillett seats)
Discussion
My quest for a seat upgrade in my GTR continues. For whatever reason, my heart continues to take me to the Tillett c/f seat line. It's unlikely that I'll be able to test-sit one here in CA before ordering one, so I might have to depend on a 'butt-by-proxy' (ahem) recommendation.
So has anyone sat in a Tillett seat? I'm most interested in the B4 and maybe the B5 but any feedback would be of interest.

Any preference (between the b4 and b5 which I presume you test-sat) or pros and cons?

I have sat in both on a number of occasions at the kit car show and am intending to visit them in my car to try out and also select the seats for me. However I have been intending to do it for 2 years now!!!
Ahh, great. May I ask a few questions (perhaps a bit personal)?
What is your size/shape? Waist size, inseam, weight? height? I'm 5'10", 32" inseam, about 155 lbs (which I cannot convert to stones, CM's, etc)? Just an old fashion Yank.
Did you install the seats with slider(s)? If so, what parts did you use?
What was the installation process like? Straightforward? Cold-fusion? In-between?
Thanks,
V

I have the B4 fitted. Very comfortable and excellent lateral and back support. Legs support is al little bit too long which
makes the access a bit difficult. But I'm happy with them.

I have just looked at my notes from last time I tried them. I must stress that I was just sitting in seats at a show so not able to try in car.
B6F seems just right
B4 possibly too laid back
B7 Too expensive/too upright
However I need more headroom and have same inseam as you so B4 may be ok.
How much of a rush are you in?
I could visit them soon but weather getting wet here in UK

The Caterham R500 had the Tillett B6's fitted in Kevlar. The wider SV has the Tillett B2's fitted.
I am a main stockist for Tillett and to my knowledge the only company in the UK with every seat in stock and also demo seats. The factory carries no stock - builds to order with a 5 - 8 week lead time depending upon model and the time of year.
You are welcome to visit and try the seats for size or PM me with any questions.

The B5 is the most upright seat. It was originally designed to fit in an Elise / Exige. The cut away sides make it easy to get into when the car has wide sills. It also accommodates larger body sizes. The seat has a lot of material to give strength without the high sides so not the lightest seat. Needs to be fitted with side brackets. Two different brackets available depending upon if fitting runners or not.So has anyone sat in a Tillett seat? I'm most interested in the B4 and maybe the B5 but any feedback would be of interest.

The B6 is the 'R500' seat. Not as upright as the B5 and with tall sides very grippy but probably a bit snug if you are a larger frame. A very light seat. Bottom fixings. Takes runners directly. Must be spaced if not on runners. An FIA B6F version also available but then uses side fixings.
The B4 is the most laid back. A light seat similar to B6 but side fixings and a tad wider inside.
The top of the range option is the B1 - carbon front and backframe and a wider fit also.
For angle you find comfortable best to measure your current seat. Most are either 50, 55 or 60 degrees from the vertical. These angles roughly correspond to the above.

Yes we spoke at Stoneleigh ;-)
If you can tell me the fixing points you are using in the Ultima I can check against the runners and brackets on my demo seats.
The B6 has 4 holes in the bottom in a 315mm square. The runners are longer than this and have holes up to about 340 front to rear. So in effect if bolted direct into the car it would be 340 x 315 at the base.
B6 Fitting Instructions
The B6F, B4 and B5 have side brackets so abit more scope for spacing.
I guess if you really wanted you could fabricate your own alloy side brackets that pick up on your existing car holes and the side fixing points of the seats.
It's hard for us to offer these because almost every car is different.
