Door card making

Hi,
Making some door cards from scratch and not sure of materials to create the pattern i am looking for.
I have made a fibreglass sheet to size and incorporated a slight arm rest. What i want to do now is have a foam type cushion running along the top approx 1/2" thickness and approx 3" inch deep to give the panel some shape following the natural curve of the window channel and provide some cushioning.
It will all be finished in leather when the car is trimmed, any ideas what material to use, the cards will have a thin layer of sponge under the leather but looking for a slightly firmer material for the top section.
