Massive Truck Racing Accident - Brake Failure

A shocking incident for Diumar Bueno as his brakes fail during free practice at the Brazilian circuit of Guaporé. He attempts to slow by going off-track but ends up being propelled into the forest at 190 kilometres per hour.

Unbelievably he "only" had 2 broken legs and a broken arm - shocking accident !

Blimey. Do they not limit trucks over there? or here any more?
I'm sure when I was last interested, UK/ Euro racing trucks were limited to 100mph as crash barriers could not hope to cope with any more.

Quite easy to see why the euro truck racing is limited to 100mph. The inertia that thing carries is terrifying... did the grass evan slow it down? A different section of track and that could have been terrible.

fk me, are we sure that was just a brake failure? It looks like he's still going full tilt across the grass, wasn't an engine runaway and no brakes was it?

+1 no way is that just brake failure. You can see the truck is flat out, accelerating. I would say its wide open for whatever reason,

Only just missed that other truck as well. It certainly seemed to be picking up speed.

Wiki reckons the Brazilians limit them to 160km/h - same as the UK.

When they race trucks at Thruxton the Grandstands at the top of Woodham hill are off limits. Now I can see why.

Worth pointing out that if there was a diesel runaway involved then the restrictor would need to be a throttle to work.

Last time I was at a truck meeting one came off full tilt at Paddock hill heading straight towards where we were standing. Everyone took the piss when I started briskly backing away from the barrier as it approached, but they're quite capable of flattening barriers!

In fact I think not long afterwards one went off at Honda at Pembrey and managed to wipe out the perimiter fence, forget about the armco!!
