Bit of fun... Theoretical Fastest 'Ring Lap.
Discussion
Out of interest, what do people think should be a theoretical fastest time round the ring for a (non M600) Noble? Let's say for a minimally modded 350bhp car and for a snarling 600bhp beast.
A Porsche GT3RS with a factory test driver (Engineer?) has done a full lap in 7:33. Using the standard BTG estimate, that's about 7:10 BTG. Obviously with weekend traffic this would be basically impossible and dangerous, but an evening if you were firstish out? Yeah, why not?
Now, a Noble with about 350bhp - a GTO-3 I guess - has an equivalent or slightly better Power to Weight ratio to a GT3RS and should be about equal? Maybe not quite equal but close enough.
So a standard GTO-3 should probably be capable of around a 7:20-30 BTG? For a standard car? What about a 600bhp car?
How much faster would an extra 250bhp give you if indeed you could use it. Up the valley you'd be touching 180mph surely? 150 through Fuchsrohre? 130 through courage corner? You'd obviously have to be fairly dedicated!
I guess it's all a bit different with no ABS and DSC, and with so much else at risk if you make an error, particularly at the sort of speeds Nobles are capable of!
What do we think chaps?

Don't know if this helps have friend with a Evo 9 FQ 360 who went up to 400bhp the second year he saw only just quicker
Third year the power was up to 500bhp but was about 20 seconds slower btg both times brakes and suspension was uprated
We worked out its more down to the driver than how powerful the car is once power and set up are matched to the driver more power can slow you down

Ring lap time is directly correlated to the size of the drivers balls. Especially in a Noble which although probably one of the most forgiving cars on the limit, does require proper commitment especially on the brakes which is where I have trouble on track. After a few lockups I find myself breaking earlier even subconsciously.
A 600 BHP car is probably too much to tame, fair enough if you had the gearing to exploit higher speed on the flat out sections but too easy to go too hot into the corners.
Probably better to have a "boost button" for the straight sections and dial out some power for the technical bits.
Of course if you are a "ring specialist" and drive a 600 BHP Noble all the time you should benefit a few seconds just from experience.

A 600 bhp car running at around 500 with button deployed strategically would be perfect with my experience.
'Safe' deployment on a DN Day only would be after first warm up lap then all out down Dottinger Hohe, going through the bridge at 170+ takes a little getting used too as I have just experienced, in a 600+ Weapon 190 would be attained or perhaps a bit more... Going flat out through the bridge makes a huge difference in time than starting from the cones after the ticket machine on a Touristday.
From then on deployed & flat down Quiddelbacher Hohe slight dab before Flugplatz otherwise end up at Spa! then flat again down to Schwedenkreuz then again blasting down Fuchsrohre easing off well before compression to compose car, deployed again straight after Adenaur Forst to Metzgesfeld.
Deployed once more just after Ex-Muhle (after Adenau bridge) late Bergwerk entry then all out blast through to Klostertal. After there through the technical section upto Plflanzgarten, once past there & over the big crest deployed again to Schwalbenschwanz. Finaly the tentitively 'perhaps' deployed once on Galgenkopf then nailed all the way down Dottinger again.
All that though would only be achieved if near empty track in perfect conditions. Like Graham said he could do a 7:30 BTG no question he could with more laps plus he's certainly brave enough & has the skill to do it. Only 3 more seconds then the Gardner Douglas BTG record would be gone...
The M400 suspension set up is perfect for the Ring, with correct tyres Mega laps & BTG times would be attained. Using the Michelin Cups 3 laps can be done with no run off whatsoever. The warm up lap & 2 hot laps will near empty the fuel tank.
Last weeks visit while going around the Ring especially on the DN Day there were many a time I wish I had 600+ bhp.
Roll on next year.

My experience is this is not the case... when my car was setup right with warm tyres I can unleash the full 600+bhp full throttle coming out of corners in 2nd gear. However at my last track day with the same tyres but without having set the car up it was doing burnouts coming out of 2nd gear corners and I was only running 430bhp... the reason is the car wasnt set up right (corner weights, tyre pressures etc etc).
I seem to disagree with a lot of people who have high powered nobles but I find my car easy to modulate on the throttle when running full power all the time on track, i dont need to be full throttle all the time.... even when it was doing burnouts out of corners at Rockingham I could easily control it via the throttle.... something I could never do in my ultima.
given the length of the ring and the fact that on each long straight you will gain considerable seconds over a stock car you should be 20 seconds plus faster.... if you have the balls lol
of cause the inexperienced (and me) will probably go hot into corners due to the car being so much faster... but someone who is experienced shouldn't do that?
