987 Boxster bonnet corrosion?
Discussion
Hello all.
I own a 2007 987 2.7 and have a spot of corrosion on the ally bonnet around the latch striker plate (which is stainless). I am assuming is is suffering from some bimetallic corrosion.. Has anyone else ever seen this? Any idea what the best course of rectification is? The car hardy ever goes out in the wet and is always garaged..
Thanks in advance!

Paint is original, not all services done by OPC though.. Not sure how a couple of oil changes, whether they be at OPC or an Indy could prevent the bonnet rotting though!
I thought all services needed to be done by OPC for the corrosion warranty to apply?
It's ally corrosion afaik, where the paint has come off a bit it is grey, not orange underneath...

I should probably take it an OPC for them to look at, if they say nay, I guess I'll have to have it done. Not sure it is something I'd feel comfortable doing myself to be honest as even with a can of the correct paint I can't see how I'd blend it in with the original paint.
I guess that to do properly, the whole bonnet would need to be repainted inside?

Hi,
I am sorry to bump a 1 year old thread, but this is the only one I found about this problem in the whole internet...
So, I have exactly the same issue, as you can see on this picture: http://s14.postimg.org/ncgp7a2z5/20150215_164908.j...
I already talked to my Porsche dealer and he told me he will open a warranty ticket to Porsche. Then, if Porsche don't accept, the dealer will repair it for free anyway, as goodwill gesture.
But, I'm scared it comes back later. It's strange to see a such issue on an aluminium bonnet.
So I wanted to know, how did you do for get this problem solved?
If it comes back, i'm thinking about replacing my bonnet by a carbon fiber one, then, at least, it can't corrode anymore.
P.S. Sorry if my English isn't perfect, I'm from Switzerland and my native language is french.
