1st Anniversary of Dan's death today. Can't believe it's been a year already.

I was at the Autosport awards last year when his Dad collected an Award on his behalf. A touching memory that will stay with me forever.

Here is a tribute from the guys at SimRaceway - http://blog.simraceway.com/2012/10/memoriam-dan-wh...

God bless Danny, and thoughts with his young family on this day.

This man held the fort for British motorsport on the international stage in the early-mid 2000s really.

A lousy week. With Simoncelli's accident the week after.

Been reading various articles about the fan who was on the other side of the challenge. Talks about the media spotlight she was under prior to the race, and how througout all that, the one person going out of his way to look after her and make sure she wasn't overwhelmed was Wheldon. Makes the whole thing that much more tragic. He was always a bit too cocky for my liking when he first went to the States, but he'd matured fantastically. Just as he finally seemed to have found himself out there, he's taken away. Very sad day indeed.

That it was.

I'd had a fantastic weekend at the BTCC finale at Silverstone, did the long drive home, walked back into the house and put the TV on to be confronted by the coverage of the crash. One of "those" days in Motorsport that none of us want to see.

EFA - 3 racing fatalities that month, Dan Wheldon, Marco Simocelli, and Dave Wells.

Hope his family are doing ok today.

The first xmas, b'day, anniversary is always hard.

A big loss as a human being and driver.

yeah I went to the memorial at Emberton... knew it was racing a 'do' when Jason Plato parked up to me in his yellow Italia and in the local pub ... "oh there is Jenson and McNish is over there with the RLM crew" .. having said that it was rather gruelling that day

Did anyone hear Hindy being really choked at LM when he read out the 'missing' just before the start.. really brought it home what the game is all about
