Should have posted a couple of pix from last week here.
These were taken in Morayshire last Monday night. Using a Nikon D4 with a 24-70mm lens at 24mm a 30 second exposure and using mostly ISO640

this last one also has an Iridium flare on the right hand side as a result from the Iridium 34 communications satellite

The relatively low ISO suggests these were pretty bright, must've been quite a sight. For the foreground's sake it's a shame they seem to be out-of-focus but the nature of the aurorae means the lack of sharpness is less of an issue in the sky. Going to be worth being poised for more over the coming months.

Believe it or not I didnt have a tripod so had to improvise. I wouldnt have thought the foreground was out of focus as I was on a hill and the street lit area was about a mile away and was using manual focus. I would suggest that because of the relative dark of the sky and the brightness of the populated area it was more light burn/blur in the foreground
