Wireless network - help!

Hi folks,

I've just got a spangly centrino laptop.

Installed by wireless G Modem/Router combo

Desktop connected via CAT 5, internet connection, fine

Laptop connected via the built in G, fine

However, I cannot seem to set up a network between the 2 PC's as home network wizard (XP) runs fine on the desktop, but just sits there going over and over the connection animation on the Laptop

Is it possible to sort the network via wireless (want to share folders and the desktops printer), if so how?

One thing missed from that topic, is the fact that if you have a firewall, you need to make sure that you allow folders to be shared.

Unfortunately I've got file and print sharing enabled and can see internet on both the laptop and desktop but still cant get them to pick up each other

Its a Belkin Wireless Router, anyone got any ideas?

Also have kiero personal firewall installed on both mach9ines, but this isnt coming up with any incoming/outgoing alerts when I attempt the home network wizard?

It's probably the firewall... they block file and print sharing unless you're careful.

Disable the firewall temporarily, does it work then?

Do you have unique IP addresses on each machine?

firewall disabled made no change, both have sep IP's and I can ping from one to the other without any problems

Addition:

although file and printer sharing is enabled, I cannot select any of the "Network Sharing and Security" elements of the "Sharing" tab if i right click on a folder to share it from the desktop to the laptop
