Abarth 500 mta/Fiat 500 dualogic gearboxes

Hi, how good are the MTA and dualogic gearboxes when left in auto mode?.
Have read some comments such as clonky, slow etc when left to their own devices. Also are there any known reliability problems, as better half needs an automatic and looking at both Fiat, most likely twin air or an Abarth 500.
We have been trying to arrange a test ride to find out first hand, only car availble with dualogic, was a 1.2 but we have had some delays in getting a ride out.
