Are these the same? I get a small knocking from my driverside shaft and believe it could be the inboard CV or perhaps the hanger bearing. Found stuff in the wiki but wanted to confirm Im getting the correct thing.

They are from a ford cougar. Don't get the mondeo ones as these are slightly longer. I picked a pair up from a breakers fro 50 quid for pair and have been fine ever since

Cool, so just any motor factor should do for the joints. Still no progress on the stuttering except that it got really weird last night.
Hopefully have an update later.

inboard joints are not available except with a shaft from ford (or Noble) and are silly money (£500ish each)... if you manage to find a source for genuine new inners will be very interested myself in a pair lol

outers can be bought for around £150ish each for genuine ford or cheaper for pattern parts.

As james says mondeo shafts fit but are too long and will damage your car... you need 2.5L V6 ford cougar ones.

You should be able to see if the bearing rubber is coming away from the casing. They are about £80 and not to hard to fit if it is that

Yeah need to have a look, do i not need to stripamything to see this? In the mean time i want the stutter issues sorted first.
Just to confirm the inboard cv and shaft are from 2.5 ford cougar?
I spoke to my factor and he confirmed the shaft on the 3.0 v6 is different from the cougar and he can't source. He then went onto say he has got the 2.5 from the cougar but also comes wih the shaft however it's only costing me around 60 notes. He also mentioned the part number matches the 1.8 tdci mondeo, which is the shame cvs I used with my old Honda Elise! Obviously needs a little more investigation and I'm travelling for the next couple weeks but interesting none the less.
Craig.
