Has anybody bought springs to suit lift kit?
I have bought a kit from the gent on ebay. It seems fine although pistons not anodised.
Pistons measure 70mm in length.
Std spring 180mm long does this mean that I need to replace with 110mm spring?
Can't find anybody who makes 2.5inch spring that short!

The only company I could find was hypercoils USA

You will be looking at part number 4B (450) which Is 4" B=2.5" I/D and the last is the Poundage rating.

You may have to experiment on ratings, extra spacers and Ride height etc.

Give nimbus motorsports a call 01377 236 170

Try Yorkshire Springs. (Will try and find contact info in the morning).
They make springs for us and seemingly make anything you want.

Just a note: Several years ago there was an article in Racecar Engineering that spoke at lenght about the issue of uniformity in spring rates between springs produced by the same company. Some of the springs where off by as much as 5%. Hypercoils was then interviewed about the quality and process they go through to produce springs with a very small margin of error less than 1%. The author of the article indicated that at that time Hypercoil was used on a huge percentage of the F1 field. I don't work for Hypercoil, don't own stock, but the article convinced me that if I am buying springs that's where I would source them. Lee

How much adjustment is left on damper? if it's anything like mine you could gain 50mm there.

ETS I looked at that kit what is the quality like? I didn't buy as I had doubts about durability with them not being anodized.

dont forget you need to retain generous rebound shock travel to enable full utalisation of the lift kit.
My total shock travel is 85mm from memory and set it more or less equal rebound to compression at static when done, and at normal road ride height.

The hypercoils were within acceptable levels as a pair on rating when new, but have found after usage springs for some unknown universal factor "wear" at different rates anyway hehehe

So if the shock stays in the same position lengthwise as it must to retain the correct ground clearance. Then if there is spring length adjustment left on the shock I can use this up? I am looking at Eibach as I know somebody or Faulkners on the south coast

you may find replacing with a shock 4" length will be just fine with a small adjustment to platforms to get the correct ride height. Deflection = load / rate, so if you retain the same static load deflection you should in theory be out approx. 10mm on previous ride height..

With small total shock travel it is pretty critical (with road compliant soft(er) springs) to get the nominal sitting position correct as to enable maximum lift and also to not bottom or top out shocks on road usage.

I know that SS has done at least 2 cars with a front lift kit so it may be worth a call to him before you proceed.
