Hi all

I've posted on here briefly before. I've been restoring a 306 Rallye but never really kept the thread up to date. Well that's now roadworthy and will soon be for sale.

So here's its replacement. 2000 BMW 528i SE AC Schnitzer







(I'll borrow the GF's DSLR one day and take some better pics)

Initial impressions are it is massive. Having come from small hot hatches this is quite a step up in many ways. Secondly it is nowhere near as potent as I thought 193bhp would be. Ran a code reader and came up with camshaft position sensor fault so going to change that one at the weekend and see if it makes a difference.

Other than that the plan is simple, keep it tidy.

It's a genuine AC Schnitzer from factory too. Got the sticker on the door shut. Shame it's just the styling and not any of the tuning.

Normally I'd hate this sort of thing, but normally cars only have one or two items fitted. This looks like it has everything and looks pretty smart!

Change nothing.

Thanks. I'm pretty sure it's the full kit, front and rear splitter, side skirts, wing mirrors, wheels, exhaust, three peice boot spoiler and rear window spoiler plus a few interior bits.

I was looking at sport models but just couldn't stretch to the prices so this seemed like a good alternative. Being SE too it's possibly better spec'd than the sports too.

I don't like it by much. The kit is very 90s.

But it'ss still an E39 so it's a great car and you should enjoy it.

Is your headlamp clouded up or is it just the light? Could you swap the unit easily for a facelift one? The facelift lights take years off the car IMO.

You're right, oh so 90's, a reason to love it.

Yes the headlight is clouded, dried it out but it's straight back again. Just checked out the price of facelift headlights on eBay - £300 for a used pair, not a chance!!

The kit is 90's, its a 90's car.

For this reason I think it should probably keep its clear pack pre-facelift lights. You may be able to polish up the lenses or replace them and the seals.
