Newbie needs good independent mini specialist in Berkshire

Hello good people. Got an early cooper that has air bag light lit, runs a bit lumpy, needs clutch/gear cables adjusting and generally needs some love. Where am I best going for a knowledgable independent mini specialist who is not going to rip me off? I live near Wokingham/Reading in Berkshire.

Why do you think the clutch/gear cables need adjusting?
Reason I ask, when I bought my 03 Cooper last year I thought the same thing as it was almost impossible to get into reverse. The gearbox was fubar and had to be replaced (under warranty so I considered that a bonus!).

p.s. I'm in Finchampstead so local to you and I use a small garage in Finch called J&S Autos. They aren't Mini specialists but they do know what they are doing and are very honest and don't charge for anything that doesn't need doing - almost too honest in fact!
