Driving through Cambridgshire the other day and noticed the sign on the back of a bus - for the official website for the Cambridgshire speed cameras.
www.cambridgeshiresafteycameras.co.uk
(please note that I may have spelt the link wrong)
Anyway, the key point is the ".co.uk". Those people out there is PH land who know the internet know that if you are non-profit making etc, you get a .org or government you get a .gov.uk domain name. You only get a .co.uk one if you are actually a company - i.e. profit making.....
e.g.
www.rspca.org.uk
www.inlandrevenue.gov.uk
or
www.microsoft.co.uk
www.compaq.co.uk
Now it seems that speed cameras are infact a profit making company too....

Sorry Paul, not true. I have a website with the .co.uk suffix and I certainly am not a company.
Quite - the conventions for domain suffixes have always been 'best practice' rather than compulsory..
I have www.fffnh.com registered in my own name - no company associated... (my company one is a co.uk)
There are lots of people who have a .net domain name - virgin.net email addresses for example - .net should only ever have been granted to ISPs for use in naming their network devices, not for denoting services such as email and web.
Nonetheless, I take your point and yes - I agree... but then it wouldn't matter what their domain name is; they're still money grabbing bubble-wrap-fetishist b'stards!
