All Z06's are hardtop. I was told that for some reason it's a legal requirement for a car with it's performance in the US.
Now... why that's not true of the other vettes and the new C6, who knows!!! Maybe it's something to do with the fact that people race them?
Dunno why you'd want to convert them, though, at least in the UK!!! Personally, I like my roof... it keeps the rain out!

www.caravaggio.com will remove your roof for you for about $12,000.

I'll do it for $10k.
The "raison d'etre" of the Z06 is the rigidity imparted by having a hardtop and the lightness gained by weight-saving. Removing the roof and adding masses of weight seems to be a peculiarly retrograde exercise. If you want a fast convertible, it's surely cheaper to get a C5 Convertible and upgrade it.

Well it was kind of where I was going, I drove a C5 Vette when I was out in Vegas earlier this year and loved it. How easy is it to upgrade a C5 with Z06 parts?
Standard C5 and Z06 are very different beasts under the skin. The transmission is different, the suspension is different, the brakes are different and most importantly the engine is different!
You could upgrade a standard C5 convertible to a Z06 engine spec, but replacing the heads with LS6 heads as basically that is the major difference between the engines.
If you are going to do this speak to Blackzr as he does "upgrades". He built my LS6 up to a 383 using a Lunati stroker kit, but if you wanted an upgraded LS1 you could have it to any spec you wanted depending on your budget.
