Newbie with a 350z
Discussion
I did test drive a 2 yr old Elise and 370z...
I suppose the Elise would have been a lot better on the track but I think the lack of horses would have put me off for long road journeys (and lack of comfort and good sound system)
And then I really didn't want to part with 20 grand for a toy so I bought a 55 plate for £8750....
Took it to the North of Scotland and got 30+ mpg (80 yr old Dad to keep the speed down) Took it round Donington and 10.5 to the gallon
I do love it though, what are Falken FK452s like for a trackday?

How about some pics and info? History? Your personal car history, why you chose the 350z over other Jap motors such as Evos etc
Personally I love 350z's, but I felt the same way as you about my MR2 when I got it a few weeks back. Where the hell is the MR2 sub forum???
People posted on here before asking: Where's the Nissan sub forum? Where's the Mitsi one? Where's the Toyota one? Where's the 350z one? Where's the MR2 one?Personally I love 350z's, but I felt the same way as you about my MR2 when I got it a few weeks back. Where the hell is the MR2 sub forum???
If PH listened to everyone who asked the above - there would be 10+ Jap sub forums, and no need for a 'Jap chat' forum.
Also - Jap chat isn't that busy anyway.. there's only ever a couple of new posts a day... Hell, the MX-5 only section is more busy than the whole of Jap chat!
Apologies for the digression OP.
PH was originally built by and for TVR owners and enthusiasts. Over time this has diversified considerably to include many things not motoring, but the cars have been largely British, German or Italian. Obviously others get mentioned and included but Japs in particular tend to have their own busy sites/forums elsewhere so PH has never really taken off in that direction. IMO.
For example, when I had my Zed I spent a fair bit of time at the 350z OC.

Thanks all for the replies...
I've not owned cars that readers of this forum would be that impressed with...mostly budget runarounds...
Although a 24v Mondeo was quite good fun
I have always thought that where performance per pound spent was concerned, bikes were infiniteley better value...10 grand buying something similar to what a world champ like Fogarty rode...
Always said if money was no object then an Exige or Elise would be the car to tempt me, for its drop dead good looks and track credentials...
But the Z is an amazing car for my money, hugely powerful for a small car, dead comfy and a top stereo...I go up to the North of Scotland a fair bit and I think 450 miles would not be as much fun in an Elise...
After the Donington day I thought an old Lotus and a trailer might have been a better spend...but then I would regret not having the Z
I have also have registered with 350Z owners site but seem to have problems with getting pages up (google can't connect to site or something) ?

They've just refreshed the site and in the process I think a lot of the web addresses have changed slightly. I.e google returns results but those pages don't exsist anymore.
Good forum though, i've just bought a zed and loving it so far. I've even managed 30mpg on todays canter across the country.....not quite as bad as I feared.

I'm on that forum too but find them very cliquish and more interested in putting blue jubilee clips and pink bolts on their engines and polishing their cars than driving them.

lol, yes there are a few who like a nice shiny colour coordinated engine bay, but its very diverse if you search =) a lot nicer place than my350z in which you loose your head when you post any comment!
Some guys have been on it for a long time so rightly so they may have a king of the hill opinion as they know its full of there friends, but you get that anywhere.
I personally would love to go on a few more drives with the Scottish guys but I know most organisers have busy day jobs and it aint easy to organise a big group. Also when you get the tinkerers like myself, its not often the car is road worthy or working lol
