Accurately counting calories burnt?
Discussion
I’m well back into my fitness regime after being injured for a while I was unable to run much. I’m not seeing the weight losses I'd like as yet but made the mistake of not taking waist measurements etc and I’m currently around 238lbs aiming to be 224lbs by Christmas.
Main form of exercise is running, I tend to do 3 x40 mins at 8mph pace through the week then do a long slow run at weekends of around 8 miles. For my 40 min run My Fitness Pal tells me that for my 40 min run I’m burning 900 his calories-I’ve looked at other online tools and this seems accurate? I give myself a cheat day or two at weekends without going nuts but I’m concerned that I seem to have plateaued a bit.
Is the 900 cals accurate? Through the week I keep below the 1800 cals target for intake regardless of whether I exercise or not.

It's about right.ROT is 100 cals per mile, so if you're running quite fast it's not too far out.Cut to a cheat day once a fortnight 'til Xmas and you'll get a decent result, all things being equal.
Tough couple of weeks ahead as I’m away with work, many corporate dinners starting off with a curry on Monday night. Will be taking my trainers with me to run and I’ve purposely booked hotels with gyms but will have to go for the healthy options and abstain from drinking!
a) Look at ADF or 16/8 fasting.....no need for cheat days
b) why do friends wanting a good time mean you have to f
k up your body? You drink because you'd rather get pissed than be ripped, thats cool..but be honest about it! Personally, I dont have anyone I like well enough to ruin my training for, pointlessly!

Appreciate your comment and I know I don't want it enough (or quick enough) to give up on the occasional drink and meal out (it’s probably one in 4) but you’ve hit the nail on the head.b) why do friends wanting a good time mean you have to f

Stop with the ridiculous cheat days every weekend and stop drinking alcohol, the problem is you lack mental stamina and heart.
I started this thread to establish whether or not my calories burned during a run were accurate. You don’t know me so by making your last sweeping generalisation you can keep your advice thanks.Gassing Station | Health Matters | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
