Are there any aftermarket warranties for the Focus which are considered better than others?

(e.g. the "BMW" and "VW" warranties underwritten by Mondial are widely considered to be reliable and cover a lot of stuff...but can't seem to find an equivalent "Ford" used-car warranty)

I'd rather steer clear of Warranty Direct and Warranty Wise as both seem to have mixed reviews...but what other options are there out there?

Thanks,

Martin.

Can +1 on avoiding the extended "warranty" by ford, the list which is does NOT cover is one A4 side in itself, covering everything except basically mechanical or electrical failure of the engine ( bearings , ecu, that rubbish ) So not really worth it for the money

Sadly i dont have another company to use, just letting you know what to expect if you do get ford direct warranty!

How old is the car? They are pretty solid. I'd look on the focusstoc site for specialist advice.

Assuming it's the 2.5 Turbo we're talking about, it's largely a very reliable car, but if you do go for a warranty make sure it covers the known faults well documented on the owners club forum. Alternator and oil filter housing are the two most obvious things that spring to mind. A cracked cylinder block is possible but this seems to be confined to modified cars. Everything else is just wear and tear, like clutches and bushes, so I wouldn't think a warranty will help.

Based on owning mine for 6 and a half years, I wouldn't bother with a warranty. The only unexpected expense has been an alternator, and that wasn't an expensive fix.
