A. D. D. Assessment

I've searched and found some threads around A.D.D. but didn't find the answer i was looking for.
I know some thoughts disputed the fact whether it actually exists,etc,etc,bla,bla but i'm not interested in that.

Is there an assessment/exam that takes place to actually prove it or is it just a question/answer type thing to prove it ?.

I know people are going to say 'Go to the Doctor' which is being done but wanted to know what the process would be ? This is not related to identifying whether a child has it but an adult.

Any advice appreciated.
