Oddly, find myself over the here in the U.S. with a spare weekend, and seeing as Petit leMans just so happens to be on, deltawing/ferrari/porsche is running, and went to grand LeMans this year, seems like the stars are aligned and telling me something?

Current plan to hop on plane to GA, rent a car, find a camping mart, jerky mart, then a beer mart, and get myself over there.

SO, any PHers been before? going? camped? hotelled? meeting up? advice??

Deltawing just had a big flip, they are hoping to get it running again for the weekend.

Did go some years back when the Cadilac Northstar was still racing, hardest part was finding the place (days before sat nav that is) was very poorly signed and even asked in a local convenience store not far away who wanted to direct me to the Nascar track 60 miles away!
Good event to go to though and the US sports car fans are amazing. Try and park/ camp infield if you can as the car park outside was a long up hill slog away. Back then a normal ticket got full access to paddock etc and you can walk around the entire track on the inside so plenty of good photo/viewing spots. Catering etc is not to Le mans quantities though so bring some food.

Poor from the 911 driver

However does this not show a vital safety flaw in teh Delta Wing?

Normal car wouldnt have rolled in that manner surely, its only because of the configuration the car did that

i disagree, at this years Porsche supercup race in spa, exactly the same thing happened and a 911 flipped (ironic).
in that situation, when its front corner on back corner the car will always want to flip due to the obvious sideways motion meaning the air passing under the car causes serious instability in the form of lift. For further examples see davidson at le mans 2012 and just about any nascar crash from the 90's.

I'm headed up there in the morning. I think this will be my 7th Petit. What do you want to know?
