Keyed paintwork and Chipsaway.

Evening,

I got a quote from a 'we beat any quote' garage for just over £600 for a damaged 'keyed' side (from rear quarter, past doors to front quarter + bonnet) They said the car would need to be resprayed but didn't mention the technique Chipsaway use. Is this because it's no good or is a full panel respray the preferred method?

I don't really want to spend that amount, was thinking closer to £300/350 and seemed like Chipsaway charged around £65 per panel repair?

So is the 'fill' technique any good on deep scratches?

In my experience it's very good indeed, certainly if it's the kind of car where you don't want to pay to respray half of it. Probably best to give chipsaway a call and see what they quote.

It was a pretty decent car in near mint condition. Anything other than perfect wouldn't do it justice so I think I'll sell up as was going to anyway when insurance ended.


I may have found a bonnet on ebay, fingers crossed.
