Well I've been offered a 2 year contract with my company working abroad and I'm very tempted to take it but what do I do with the cerbera :s I absolutely love the car but just don't know if I could store it for 2 years. What's people's opinions on this?

If it's a goodun store it - it's only 2 years and it'll give you something to look forward to coming back.

Although some might say having it stood for 2 years won't do it any good. Do you have a trustworthy mate who could babysit it for you?

Defo store it, Lay it up correctly and it will be fine. Stick it on axle stands take the weight of the suspension. Give it a service before hand all fluids If you can, Have it left in a Carcoon or at least have a dehumidifier in the same Space as it. A good soaking of wd-40 over the engine bay and make sure it is dry when you lay it up so all the discs don't turn red in days.

When you come back to it i would again dump at least the engine oil and take it from there. In this case i would leave the fuel tank empty as 2 year old fuel will be nasty but if the car is dry stored the tank should be free from rot.

I would go over the chassis and check for rot and treat it before you go away as it will fester and eat at it.

Keep it.

Store it with someone you trust to exercise it regularly. The car will be much happier this way and that's a good trade off against having to let someone else (other than you) drive it and just leaving it parked up.

Preferably who understands them of course.

And yep, I will help smile. Your Cerbera can share the barn with mine and his brother tongue out

if it's a good one then keep it. Easy to store.

I had the same quandary - went to work in the US for 2 years.
I ended up selling mine and bought a new one when I got back.

This was a good move IMHO - i ended up with a better one and didn't have to pay for storage or suffer depreciation
(not that there's much of that these days!)

Hi Amazon

Interesting that you think your Cerbera's are male. Mine, and I suspect most others owned by people on here are feminine.
It is like the two females in my household. Loud, shouty, temperamental, and in need of constant expenditure!!!!! - I know this sounds sexist but it too true in my case.

With regard to storing for a couple of years.
Unless you can get someone to do as Amazon is offering, it is not a good idea. Standing a car up (even on stands) will lead to quite major expenditure when the car is exhumed. Vermin, corrosion, mould, rotting rubber components, damp in electrics etc.
If you put it in the hands of professionals it will cost approx. £20/week - more if you want to be able to drive it straight away on your return.
Now, values might rise by £2000 in two years, but I currently doubt it. You may think spending that is worthwhile to keep the car you know.

Your choice.
