What price is reasonable to paint front bumper?

Hi,
I’m going to a local bodyshop at lunch time to get a quote to respray my front bumper on my Z4. It’s Sterling Silver and has a light scuff on one corner. Also the paint is flaky in a couple of places so will require some prep to get a good surface to paint. I’d guess it’s been resprayed in the past to cover stone chips, but not done very well. Any ideas what is a reasonable quote for this work?
Also, will they paint the bumper on the car and blend it into the surrounding panels, or will they take it off?

Depends on the standards the bodyshop works to, what paint they use etc etc. I'll open the bidding at £300 for a good job. Removing all that poorly applied old paint will take a while.
As for the method, I expect they'd remove the bumper, refinish it and then re-fit and blend into adjacent panels with a mop.

If all the old stuff needs to be removed then it's quite a bit of prep and the bumper will possibly have to be removed to do this depending on the extent of the previous repair.
Blowing into the wings may not be needed .. it all depends on how confident the shop is at getting a bang on colour match (which can be problematic) - if it does need blowing in it may push the price up a bit more.
Get the quote and ask them what they'll be doing - if possible go to a couple of other bodyshops and again get the quote and ask how they'll be doing it. Then choose the one you feel that best explained the process and gave you the most confidence.

I’m taking it to a very highly regarded bodyshop at lunch time for a quote. They have restored a lot of classic cars, very early Bentleys, Ferraris etc. so have a very good reputation, I just hope they’re not too expensive! I have a couple of other bodyshops to go to tomorrow too.

If it's silver mopping the front of the car is going to have negligible effect on the colour match,silvers don't fade.
Secondly I don't know of a bodyshop who would blend into the front panels unless you clearly asked for it to be done.It's not normal practice.
Have a look at new cars,bumpers often don't match the rest of the car.
As for cost that would depend on which part of the country you are in,in the south of England I can see upwards of £300 being the norm judging by what I've read on the net but up North you could be looking at £150-200.....at a small independent.

A tad(well a lot actually) more than I can get away with charging, but if he can get away with it then why not. You hear of so many bodyshops closing down, its a shame really, shops have to be cheap to compete. Seems you have got one of the exceptions to the rule here.
Shop around you'll inevitably get better quotes, whether the workmanships as good, who knows.

And polishing just a small section of the car bring no gain either,
