The stud which the gas strut clicks on to on the boot lid
Discussion
Mine has finally had it! Or the area around it at least. The little ball stud now has enough movement that the gas strut just pops off, and has worn the bolt shaped hole away that surrounds the stud
Has anyone ever done a repair on this? I'm just curious how the stud is held in place and how to get it out. My plan (unless advised otherwise) is to remove the entire thing, fill the hole with some sort of filler (any suggestions as to what type?) and shove it back in to set hard.
This is on a Tuscan, but I guess also applies to some of the other models.
Cheers

Have I misunderstood? I thought you meant the male bit had pulled out of the boot. Do you mean the socket on the strut itself is damaged? If it's this then there are small locking pins with a curved end that clips over the strut. To remove, unclip the curved bit of the pin from around the strut and then pull out of the socket. This then releases the ball.
If it keeps coming off then you may have lost the pin.

Sorry, I didn't explain it very well. It's the male bit attached to the boot lit, and the hole it sits in has perished enough to allow the knob to move around. So my aim is to try to removing it from the boot lid.
Need a ring spanner I think, which I will have to borrow from my folks over the weekend. Still a little uncertain how it is held in place once I remove the male stud.

I'm easily confused - it's been a long week.
There's an insert similar to these set into the fibreglass itself.
