My P11 Nissan Primera GT

Hello everybody, my name is Alan and this is my first performance car! I have been into cars my whole life but my car history is pretty shameful I must admit. I picked this up in February after my old car decided to die on me. It only cost £475 so I am in proper shed territory! It had done less than 45k when I bought it and is now showing just under 48k and has been totally reliable apart from the exhaust. This got replaced with a full stainless system I picked up 2nd hand which is a little chavvy but does make it a little quicker 
A mate had one years back and I always remembered it as being entertaining but I was pleasantly surprised with how it goes. It isn't the fastest car in a straight line but I do love the way it handles, much more hot hatch than repmobile. I could write out a long list of what I'd like to do to it but at the moment it's sadly being ignored for most of the week while I use my fiancee's Mini One D to get to work and back.
Anyways, enough talk for the moment, time for pics

Cheers guys, I know the Yolo sticker is a bit lame but there is a bit of a story behind it. Either way I had hoped to sort a better rear bumper by now (therefore ditching the sticker) as this has a huge gash in it. Unfortunately funds have not allowed it

Nissan's from this era are absolutely bulletproof and the gt primera and gti almera were always extremely renowned by those in the know. friend of mine has a 1996 almera with 130k and it is unbelievably reliable- still on its first clutch!!! Shame they don't make em like this anymore
t about it. The sr20de is rev happy and it does 300 miles to a tank. It used to do 400 but it needs a good service with the condition it's in at present.Cheers for the comments, glad to see I'm not the only one with a soft spot for these on here! The mirrors don't match and are pretty tatty underneath so believe it or not the stickerbombing is an improvement, lol.
With the mentions of how long the clutches last on these I am slightly concerned about how previous owners may have treated it. As mentioned the car has done less than 50k and has the documentation to back this up but the clutch feels like it's starting to go. Saying that it was seemingly only used around town by the previous owner so maybe this has something to do with it.

I had a 5 door GT LE with the chromaflip paint and leather interior. Quite underrated cars these, the handling is better than a Renault Sport Clio (of which I've had 2) and its not as slow as the 150 bhp would suggest if driven properly. Really surprisingly good cars for shed money. Just felt a bit too dull to me after MX5s and MR2s before it. But if I had to have a cheap car, I'd definitely consider another. Just watch for rust.

Interesting to read you found the handling better than a Renaultsport Clio considering how highly rated they are! I really wanted to find a £700 MX-5 but my other half thinks they look awful and there is the small matter of our dog (I have to have the 'sensible' car). It's looking more and more like once you go Japanese it's quite hard to go back....Will be hard for some to believe but the PGT was highly regarded handling wise by those in the "know". I could achieve cornering speeds in excess of what I could in the Clio on smooth roads, and the balance and stability was better.
The ride quality was pants mind, but that'll probably be because mine had lowering springs (I think anyway).

Mine is on standard springs and dampers and the ride is pretty harsh as well. Makes the Mini we have feel like a limo in comparison. Worth it for the handling though!
Thankfully I grew up on Top Gear and motoring magazines so already knew the GT was well regarded and of course had a successful BTCC career but never imagined it would be this good. I've never owned a car that has such a mobile rear end yet that you can still trust 100%

A small(ish) update from me and a request for some help! I have got rid of the standard 15" minicab wheels and replaced them with some much nicer BBS Craters from an old Volvo S40/V40. They are a bit tatty but for the price I paid for wheels and tyres plus considering I needed 3 tyres anyway, I'm pretty chuffed with the result!
Ultimately I will be getting them refurbed but for the moment I am trying to find some BBS centres to replace the Volvo ones. I have seen these fitted to a few different cars and wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction?

Not a massive update but I have at least given it a clean and polish.....
I have also managed to get rid of an annoying rattle in the driver's door although that now means I can hear the one in the boot even more. It's also just passed it's MOT needing just 2 new CV boots.
I do need need to sort a replacement cat before the next MOT which could be interesting as this one is welded in. If anyone knows of any company in the Sussex area that is recommended for stainless steel exhaust work then please let me know!

I have finally got round to replacing the sticker bombed mirrors with some of the correct colour. Thanks to a member of the NPOC I was able to get hold of a couple of AJ4 electric, heated mirrors one of which had even been resprayed along with an inner rear light cluster to replace one that had a hole in it. I think you'll agree, it looks a fair bit smarter now.
I need to clean them both up a little but I just couldn't wait to fit them. It is weird driving with black mirror glass surrounds after the colour explosion I've been used to. I have checked and now both mirrors heat which is nice, especially with winter not all that far away now. The only problem is that the first pic really makes me want to change my number plates, lol.
I think my next job is going to be doing something about the black plastic cover that sits under the car behind the front bumper which has started to hang under the car. Not the most vital thing in the world (I assume?) but seeing it hanging is really getting on my nerves......
